Aug. 8, 2022 - Oveja Eléctrica Ocho

Today's shave was the first where I used normally my broken and reglued brush. Unfortunately, my gluing was not perfect, and there is some movement - probably this will come apart one day, but hopefully not in August.

Somebody posted a link to sgrdddy's explanation of how he deals with blade marathons, and I tried to follow his lead: more passes, and a very wet lather (as wet as I can get while face lathering, that is). So I tried to minimize pressure as much as possible, even when the razor tugs or even skips, for 4 passes and touch ups. The result was a very fine shave, even though ATG is becoming difficult.

After one week of austerity, what are the lessons learned? As with respect to #RawHoggin, the Zenith broke in very easily - much easier than my SOC brush, which was a real pain in the beginning. There was no eau de hog present in the beginning, and shedding was very moderate. So, I 'm very positive about the nod, though my enthusiasm for the handle has suffered a bit - even accident aside. It looks good, but it is very slippery. So in hindsight, I would probably choose another handle with the same nod.

I was wondering whether it would be a good idea to take my old blade into August, but I see it as a learning experience; there typically are 2-3 shaves that are a bit rough, and then the next 7-10 are ok. I'm not abandoning hope that this pattern will repeat.

For #sidetracked, I dedicate the obvious I will survive by Gloria Gaynor to my Zenith brush.

Good night and a comfortable second week to everyone!
